Emory LaVista Parent Council ELPC is part of Parent Council United (PCU), which exists to inform, to discuss and to advocate. The Council chooses topics of interest to its community and brings School District leadership and other speakers together with parents to discuss issues affecting the cluster. ELPC is made up of representative parents from each Lakeside and Druid Hills cluster schools, past and current members of the Principal Advisory Councils (PAC) and focuses on topics that are relevant across all the schools (i.e. Safe & Effective Learning environments, Inclusion/Diversity, Mental and Physical wellness, legislation that impacts our schools and open collaboration with the DCSD).  Also, an ELPC board member is invited to participate in PCU (Parent Councils United).  This group focuses on topics that affect all children and schools in the district such as the Superintendent selection process, budget transparency, and alignment with DeKalb County leaders.  ELPC engagement is a great way to have an impact beyond your local school.

The Council is run by volunteer leaders, and we would like you to join us! Please email Jeanie Christian with your interest and questions. elpcemorylavistaparentcouncil@gmail.com

Keeping an Eye on the Middle School

If you see a Druid Hills Middle School student walking in the community when they should be in school, please call the school at 678-874-7602.  Give the person who answers the phone a good description of the student and where he/she was seen, so that the school can send a school officer to get the student.

DHMS is also asking for our help in keeping an eye on the school.  Please call 911 if you see people around the school at night, as copper pipes from the AC System have been stolen multiple times.  Those stealing the copper pipes appear to know where the cameras are and are very quick in doing their job.

When it comes to the back fields, those using the football and track fields often do not have permission to be there.  The school is trying to keep track of when and what fields are being used over the weekend, so that Weekend Resource Officers know when to come by and check on things Calling the school on Monday morning with the day and times would help the school get this under control.
